I was born and raised in LaCrosse, Wisconsin and graduated with a BS in Zoology (1991) and DVM (1995) from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. GO BADGERS!
I practiced small animal medicine in Seattle, Washington and Bozeman, Montana prior to moving to the Phoenix area, where I helped open Goodyear Animal Hospital in August of 2004. We have since grown into a thriving 5 doctor practice that has experience in all facets of small animal medicine and surgery. My special interests include internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, dentistry, feline medicine and senior animal care.
My family (husband and 2 kids) is active in soccer, dance, baseball and art. They also love swimming and riding bikes. Personally, I have become a boot camp regular at Lifetime Fitness and will be competing in my first (and hopefully not last) "mud run" this winter. To round out our family, we have 1 dog (Sierra), 4 cats, (Yukon Cornelius, Watermelon Kitty Kitty, Kiwi and Kitkat) a rabbit (named Fluffy) and 2 hermit crabs. I look forward to meeting you and your family!
Although I was born in Boulder, CO, I've lived in Arizona most of my life. I received my Bachelor of Science at the University of Arizona in 2004 (Go Wildcats!) and my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in May of 2008. In veterinary school, I had some great experiences such as spending an entire summer on a llama farm, monitoring anesthesia on a lion, and putting stitches in a sugar glider. Although these experiences were fun and challenging, my true passion is with companion animals. During my time in Colorado I realized I missed Arizona and wanted to return here to practice veterinary medicine. My professional interests include dentistry, internal medicine, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery.
In my spare time I enjoy running, spinning, watching live music, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family. My 4-legged family includes my Border Collie/Lab, Dixie, a scruffy Terrier mix named Sophie, and a Ragdoll cat, Tula. They share their home with me in Goodyear. I look forward to caring for your four-legged family soon!
Dr. Rebecca Johnson graduated from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts in 2007. She grew up in Rochester, NY, and in 2000, received her BA in Art History and Psychology from Rice University in Houston, TX. After spending many long, dark winters in the northeast, Dr. Johnson and her husband decided that they had shoveled themselves out of their last blizzard and set their sights on warmer climates. They both enjoy hiking and outdoor sports, and they are excited to explore Phoenix and the surrounding areas. At home, Dr. Johnson spends her free time reading, cooking, and reading about cooking. She and her husband live with two adorable mutts, Sparkle and Wrigley, whose favorite activities include sleeping on the couch and protecting the house from rogue squirrels.
I was born and raised in East Liverpool, Ohio. In 1996 I earned a BS at the University of Vermont in Animal Science and Biology with a Minor in Nutritional Science. From there I traveled to several states and worked as a veterinary technician or in the equine field until landing at Colorado State University where I earned a Master of Science in Anatomy/Physiology in 2002 and a DVM degree in 2006. I practiced in Colorado for a few years before moving to the Phoenix area with my husband - also a veterinarian - and two daughters.
I adore hiking, cycling, skiing and boating with my family. Otherwise, I can usually be found curled up knitting or with a good book.
I am a true Midwesterner at heart and was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. I received my B.S. degree in Animals Science at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Go Tigers!
After graduation, my passion for animals led me to the St. Louis Zoo where I became a primate keeper, caring for monkeys, lemurs, and tamarins. While I have always had a love for animals, it was during this experience where I discovered my passion for medicine. I found the best of both worlds at the University of Missouri-College of Veterinary Medicine where I received my DVM degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
After graduation I moved to Arizona and completed a rigorous 1 year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA Animal Referral and Emergency Center in Mesa. After my internship I joined the staff at Goodyear Animal Hospital where I have developed special interests in preventative medicine, internal medicine, and emergency and critical care.
I have a special place in my heart for all smooshed face breeds and in turn share my household with my two crazy Boston terriers, Teegan and Evie, and a new Pug, B.B. In addition to my three dogs, I have a handsome cat named Smokey Joseph and a feisty bearded dragon named Lola.
In my time away from work, I can be found at the gym, reading, discovering the beauties of Arizona, and cheering on my St. Louis Cardinals, Rams, and Blues as well as my Mizzou Tigers!!
I was born and raised in Georgia and through the years have spent time in Florida, Colorado, Kentucky, California, Illinois, Oregon and now Arizona! My time spent traveling allowed me to work with racing thoroughbreds in Kentucky, researching narcolepsy at Stanford University and working/learning at several companion animal hospitals. I received my bachelor?s degree at the Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO and my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Soon after receiving my DVM, I moved to Arizona where I completed a year-long internship at the VCA Animal Referral and Emergency Center of Arizona in Mesa. Throughout these experiences I have developed an interest in infectious disease, internal medicine and soft tissue surgery.
In my free time I enjoy traveling with my husband Chris, reading, wandering through museums and hiking with our dogs. We share our household with Emma, a German Shepherd Mix (my favorite breed!) and Dug, our Labrador/Great Dane Mix who was aptly named after the character from the Pixar movie "Up".
